The Happy Startup School
Workshop Leader
Topic: Peer-to-peer coaching

My coaching practice spans a wide range of clients. I work with startup founders who are enrolled in accelerators and incubators in both startup and scaleup mode, entrepreneurs running established businesses, executives who are struggling to find solutions to problems including high-level strategy, self-leadership, aligning teams and supporting managers, retaining top talent, and understanding Millennials. I also work with mid-career professionals who are looking to transition into more fulfilling careers.

In workshop settings I teach a peer-to-peer coaching technique called Wise Crowds. Participants are divided into groups of three. The session starts with each participant identifying their most pressing challenge and writing down a sentence that clearly articulates the obstacle they face. By the end of the session, participants leave with an action plan in hand.

Shana’s multi-pronged approach to identifying potential business models for my enterprise helped me tackle the daunting task of structuring my time and prioritizing opportunities. By introducing me to the necessary skills and processes, I’m confident that I am laying the foundation for a sustainable business and identifying potential avenues of growth for the future.
— LinYee Yuan, Founder and Editor of MOLD

Shana’s impact on the New York start-up community is beyond measure. Her expertise and guidance continue to be invaluable as I grow my own socially responsible, community-minded business, Damsels in Design. Shana’s approach to finance, operations and big picture strategy is realistic, positive and easy to implement and I would not be as successful as I am today without her support and inspiring energy.
— Jennifer Markas, Damsels in Design, Founder/Citibank, Vice President

In addition to working as a coach, I also mentor startup entrepreneurs developing cutting edge technologies across a number of verticals. Some of the programs I’ve worked with or currently work with include Made in NY Media Center, NEW INC, NYU's Steinhardt StartEd EdTech Hyper AcceleratorFutureworksTechstars and others.
